I do only have one car and normally do as much as possible myself, and this is the first time a car has not been able to be driven since a writeoff 14 years ago.

Mainly lack of tools, and time of year.
A Disco owner with no tools and a few spares/bits and bobs in the vehicle!!!! What's this, you are a very brave man, over here most Land Rover owners are in demand at outback camping spots and on remote tracks because Toyota owners know they can always cadge spare bolts, hoses, tape, wire and tools from "the Landy guy", when the Tojo expires.

In the car is antifreeze, CCF, tyre pump, puncture repair kit, at home, jack and all my tools

Was only the commute!

It's a Land Rover for goodness sake, treat the toolkit like the Americans do their American Express card, "never go anywhere without it", the laws of probabilities would dictate if you carry the toolkit, you may never need it, that's why I always have it onboard. The gear that I carry has always been more use to some other poor bugger than me, insurance!

Well learnt my lesson now.

They picked it up at 11 and have not even started it at 16:30, as it was not booked in, yet I called on Wednesday and they said they could do it.

I will be getting breakdown cover now, and looking to get every tool I need.

Can't even pick it up now as up on a ramp with no ATF in it.

So tomorrow is walk to Tesco and carry as many bags as possible, OR take a long walk with a trolley.

Called at 5

Struggling to get to the nut on the pipe on the gearbox.

he may have to drop the box

When I have some money I am going to look for a cheap tatty series with no road tax needed as a spare car!

At least if I can take the body off I can work on the thing myself!

And I will get a pagoda but not sure if I am allowed a 4 post lift in my parking space in front of my too small garage!

Dropped the exhaust, took about 7l of Dexron 3, but car would not move, no matter what he did with the gear lever.

Two words though was all it took to avoid a box rebuild

Transfer box

I had told his minion as well, I had stuff the TB in neutral, but minion did not tell him

Always a risk when you are depending on others to work on your ride, ESPECIALLY inexperienced others, have seen the transfer in neutral trick before. I guess they'll know next time! Hope all your current problems are over now.
