Hi - Just wondering if anybody has had any experience with army land rover tyres. Are they any good off road but crap on road or vice-versa.

Thanks

You on the beer? The Army doesn't have 1 tyre and stick to it whether they are in Belize or Belfast...

theres loads of differnt styles, i have good year g90 on my series 2 ffr there good on the road and light mud but never tried them in mud mud as i would never do that in my sereis :p

g90 is closest to a std army tire, aparently not good on side slopes.Aint very meaty but i can remeber em beig quite good in sand

I ran Michelin XCL 7.50x16 which were the military tyre for years before the G90 and XZL replaced them. I now run Michelin XL in 9.00x16 size.
They're pretty much bulletproof, I haven't had 1 puncture or tyre coming of the rim since I've had them, unlike some of the other guys who I go laning with.
I got them from Vass in Ampthill http://www.vass.co.uk/treads.pdf

cant really knock my xcl's but if you get in some tracks you will find it hard to get out of them again!

my mate bought 5 XZL 750's about 5 years ago for his series. they were es mil from the gulf and a coiple had a few stones wedged in them still. He paid £30 each for them as they had loads of tread left on them, really good sidewalls too.
Downside is he was so impressed with them, more the quality to be honest, he went to replace them new and was qouted £150 each!
