Probably depends on when the chassis was made and what the weather was like if it was stored outside until assembly-my 2000 TD5 is not too bad,perhaps a dry winter?

I have put down a deposit on a 2001 ES which looks fairly solid underneath, way better then the later year one I looked at. Fingers crossed.

A new galvanised Richards Chassis TD5 chassis is approx £2400 inc vat plus fitting.

That's a lot to put into a 4 or 5k motor though. You would have to have serious intentions of keeping it to justify that outlay I suppose.
