Hi folks,

Well, it's coming up to a birthday for me and time to have a bit more fun in life.

As I don't really need a 4x4, it's a case of putting a few pennies aside for that "dream" off-roader ...

Actually, I'm not quite sure what my dream off-roader is yet, so I'm figuring I may as well start "small" and consider the pros and cons of something "moderate" like a Freelander, and see how I get on with that.

I'm looking forward to getting to know a few enthusiasts in my area and on this forum.

Gaylanders are great if they are looked after, i love mine but then ive got a Disco aswell for the times when i wanna look butch and manly like :p

Haha, awesome. I see that at whatever level you're at, there's always another one to aim for.

Thanks for the welcomes and the honest opinions. I had wondered about a Disco but I wasn't too keen on the earlier models.

I've had the experience of a Series 3 which was fun but a little raw - you have to be committed to that, methinks.

In the family also was a RR 3.5 V8 which was (as reported by its owner), the least reliable thing he's ever owned :)

I'm tentatively dipping my toes in... but no purchase decisions have been made yet.
