Just come across the Tyron website, a device that keeps the tyre on the wheel in the event of a puncture. Has anyone here ever had them fitted?

Appears to be a useful product in a blow out, but for slow punctures perhaps a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System would be more useful?

The video appears to be about 15 years old, but they fit them to a Defender at 4 minutes into the film. But the cop at 6m30secs is a bit scruffy to say the least. Think they actually put a uniform onto a RTA victim that they found on the roadside!

Used to fit the fookers to Caravans all the time other than protection for the wheel cant see too much need for them.

Good in theory though!

They claim to offer more vehicle control in a blowout, but im not sure if they are an out of date product? Their video looks like a creation from the dark ages!

To be honest never had to fit them, except on Caravans. great concept but I believe they were made null and void by ABS which also helps you keep control in these situations. I believe if you were to ask they would fit them but believe it would cost around £40 a wheel so not really worth it considering you cannot reuse them.

Great for trailers/Caravans though as you dont always realise theres a problem and it does give more control in a blowout situation.

Blimey that video looks ancient! :D

I had a blowout a couple of months ago in a van at work after I hit a bit of jagged loose tarmac while passing another vehicle on a country road. Lucky there was a bit of a bank to the edge which held the vehicle in place because the steering obviously pulled violently to that side. Any braking meant it tried to veer further over.. I guess these could have helped, that P38 seemed to have full control of his steering!
