I drove today from Bourne to Birmingham and all went well.
But then all of a sudden in Birmingham going through the lights and roundabouts the box started a loud whine but only in second gear.
It developed instantly, there wasn't a build up to this.

And this isn't a tiny little "oh I've got a new noise to add to the symphony"either. It's a fill your pants it's about to explode whine!


I'm just confused as to why it's only in second? Any body able to say what's up with this?

So a new second gear set is needed then. So might as well do the clutch and thrust bearing too.
Just when you think there might be a month of not having to spend money.

depends ,lay shaft is one not like a series 2 or 2a were l/s shaft has individual gears ,and generally it involves more work than just swapping the offending gears once you open box up

Oh poo bum. I'll try sourcing a second hand box that works then.
Or take the Landy off the road and tackle this one. It's a good job I'm less than a mile from work!
