Hey guys, im having problems with my 4.6 hse P38a

It started when i went into tesco. I locked car with the fob (not superlock)
When i returned, the keyfob wouldnt respond (no LED). I opened the car manually and tried to start. Message centre reported engine immobilised.

I replaced the battery in the keyfob, even though the car never reported low battery. The led now works but i need to enter the code.

The keyfob still wont open the doors.

i have tried many different ways of entering the code and none seem to work. i have used the search function and nothing seems to work.

The car is a 94/95 model, but 3 incorrect attempts result in 30 minute lockout.

I have tried turning the key ACW and holding for ten seconds, i have tried turning it once, i have tried turning it four times. the parking light symbol flashes with each turn as it should.

The alarm sounder has never made so much as a squeak but it is plugged in. i cannot be sure it works (it doesent sound when i open the bonnet and the hazard light flash)

I only have the one key for the car and im in hampshire.

Does anyone have any advice that i may have missed? All doors and windows have been shut when ive tried

hi , P.M. me and will give you my number and ring me and will talk you through how to do it .cheers MOZZ:)

hi mozz, that didnt work at all, many thanks for your help, ive tried it many times, i have come to a few conclusions...

1: my door actuator has seen better days,
2: the becm has been swapped by a previous owner rendering my EKA obsolete (how can i check for this)
3: this has someting to do with the alarm sounder being silent (not working i presume)

does anyone in the south of hampshire have any diagnostic equipment they would be willing to help with in exchange for some liquid bread?

1) If the parking light symbol flashes as you say, then unlikely to be door microswitches.
2)BECM cannot be simply swopped without being reprogrammed. If it has then your EKA code would likley be correct.
3) Alarm sounder is driven from the BECM and if the actual sounder has failed,I am not aware the BECM would be affected.

You can replace your door latch or remove the connector from it and try to input the eka from a switch connected to the correct wires from the actuator.
It would be best to put diagnostics on the BECM to see what the stored EKA code is.
You could contact Callrova in Sussex. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to the BECM issues.

HI mate, i had the same problem a few weeks ago type in the search (calling wammers) and have a read.
You can get your EKA code from the stealers if you take your log book with you.
Make sure your red light flashes on your keyfob before you do anything take the batteries out and lift up the 3 little prongs. I took my old key to autolocksmith.net in rugby and got in working in 10 mins and charged me a tenner, give him a ring nice guy, i hope this helps.

Hi John P38, many thanks for your reply. you may well have helped me eliminate a few issues. it looks like as you say, diagnostics are the way forward.

busakaz, the remote has two new batteries, that both test at 3.3 volts. they are 2505 energiser and inserted correctly. the light flashes with each button press. The EKA code was supplied by my local stealer (for free) using my v5. i also verified this online and it matched. the key is key 3 and the only one i have.

The only issue that pointed me towards the door lock actuator is that i've had an intermittant fault of the car occasionaly locking and unlocking as i drive and also again, very rarely the drivers door would not lock with the others after a keyfob button press.

As you both kindly point out it is looking like i need to find someone local to me with syncmate or similar.

Once again, many thanks for replying
