Never fine to work under an unsupported Air suspended vehicle at any ride height.

+ another.. adrop down to the bump stops will be at a level that crush a human and that will ruin your day for sure.

As an aside never work under any car unless supported or backed up with stand support. a set of 4 is cheap enough and it's not worth getting killed or disabled over.

No need to pull anything when repairing, and just the relay under the seat to freeze it, but as Wammers said, it's easier to just leave the tailgate unlatched unless it's in a place where it may get interfered with.

sounds like one of the c.i.d. after jimmy saville !!! didn't he own a p38 ??????????? ho ho ho

sorry keith I couldn't resist that morning to datatek and wammers oh and everyone else of course ,,,,MOZZ :crazy_driver::crazy_driver::crazy_driver:

If it's a leaky airbag causing the problem, one corner will drop more than the others, since the open tailgate will freeze the ECU. Solution is simple - replace the relevant air bag :)
If it lowers evenly, then that points to a problem in the valve block.
If it doesn't lower, then the problem likely lies with the ECU.

No, not always an airbag, can also be a leaking solenoid valve or block or bag connection that drops a corner. Four corner valves in the block seldom leak all at the same time. ECUs seldom if ever fail. I don't really think you know what you are talking about to be honest.

Sorry :(
I try!

As I said before Mozz, transfer motor switch timing or transfer box ECU or possibly wiring. It is also possible the BECM could do it, but it's more likely that it's getting a signal to tell it to display the message.

hi guys.. results time !!

ok, so as suggested,, i parked over night with the tailgate unlatched ( as i've mentioned the driveway is both uphill, and has a twist on it )..
this morning the car looked as it usually does.. no noticeable 'dropped' corners or anything..
i started her up.. nothing moved or changed.. i closed and latched the tailgate.. still no change in ride height..
drove to the supermarket.. everything as was..

parked, shopped..

came back to start the car and it did it's usual.. dipping / levelling thing ..

it's as if it us unsure if it is level or not.. so it checks everything by dipping and resetting it's self..
any more ideas ? or is this just 'normal' and not to be worried about ?

When you get out of the car and shut the door it will self level for 20 seconds. It returns itself to standard height by letting the pressure out that had been needed to support the load. If you are eight stone wet through you may not notice much change if you are twenty five stone you will notice quite a bit. When you get back in and start up it will adjust to compensate for load and to replace any slight pressure drop there may have been because of self leveling and suchlike.

Sounds normal to me as long as it was sitting level.

thanks guys... as far as i can tell after the tailgate Exp. it is just Adjusting and self levelling on startup then.. I'm only 13 stone... but i guess it must still sense that ?

will keep an eye out of course.... and report back any other thoughts.... thanks as ever
