I am 64, my wife is a sprightly 72, and we have just bought a 1998 Discovery 300tdi, 99,000 miles, boot floor not rusty and one owner, everything working (for now)! We figured it was the best thing to tow a horse box to get our daughter to shows. Steering fluid a bit low and obvious signs of topping up means I shall be searching for a new steering box one day... At least it hasn't got any sun roofs to leak. My last Land Rover, a County 110, had everything wrong with it...heater leaks/power steering leaks /sun roof leaks et cetera, but the best leak was from the injector pipe that broke on the M4 near Cardiff and sprayed diesel everywhere (sorry bikers)! I found a local Land Rover workshop in Yellow Pages (on Saturday morning), told him my problem and he sent his wife to where we were at Cardiff services with a secondhand pipe and a 16mm spanner, all for about £50!! That was some time ago, but it convinced me that Land Rover people were a bit special, so I am very happy to be part of the society again, and will of course help any fellow travellers if I can!!
