I've been trawling the 'net for a couple of inside door release plastic surrounds for my '87 (DA) RRC, components well known for their fragility.
Sounds simple but I have a problem in that every example, whether new or used, appears to have the hole for the retaining screw offset above the centre line of the surround & is listed as suited to '88/89 onwards.

I may be getting senile but I'm not blind & I'm sure my surrounds have this hole in the centre. not offset, but surely a manuf. with such a glacial approach to change wouldn't alter the spec. of such a basic component .. would they?

Can anyone with a '86 model year RRC (maybe reg'd in early '87) or even an earlier 4 door take a look at their surrounds for me?
Thank in advance guys.

Appreciate the replies guys, yes I could post pictures but all I really want is for pre '88 reg RRC owners on here to just look at their surrounds & let me know the position of the fixing hole.

If I'm right about this I could obtain the generally available 'offset' design & simple re-drill the hole, but that will mean 2 holes very close together, which in plastic is far from ideal.

You may find the item is identical to the 300 series D1 hole in the centre for both vehicles, the parts catalogue for both show similar part numbers for RH & LH side.

Maybe have a look at this thread & contact @RangeRover3D ??

If you have the part with the wrong hole position, then scan the part & adjust the screw hole position ?
That's what I'll have to do as every single advert for these components illustrates an offset hole position.
I've accepted defeat & now ordered RH & LH examples .. still doesn't solve the mystery though
