Hmmm how can I put this with out this turning into ONE OF THOSE POSTS?
am sure it has occurred to all you landy buffs out there I am not one YET I am however hard working and willing to learn and like most persons these days turn to the comfort of my pc and the good old internet for help , advise etc. hence my post
so perhaps a no it wouldn’t trod would be more welcomed rather then the sarcasm , now lucky I can take this as I have sloppy shoulders I carnt help but wonder though how many other members have had such short visits and gone else where for the answer there after.

on the 200/300 tdi there are a lot of interchangeable parts..the td5 is a different kettle of fish all together

If you knew your stuff and were a competent engineer you could no doubt make it fit but it would probably be way to expensive a project.
You'd need to fabricate mounts, find the correct pulleys and belts, alter the wiring etc. Never say never but be realistic. Quicker and cheaper to get the correct alternator. JMHO

Alternatively (no pun intended) get the TD5 alt if its going begging and sell it on fleabay to fund the correct one.
