looks like im on me 3rd alternator in a few months and this time it wasnt the salisbury plain mud,its just water,,theres no output atall

gonna try the 300 tdi alternator this time and put it on me 200 and see if that lasts any longer:mad:

You can't waterproof them, I ask the other day after buying new bearing from a local alternator/starter motor builder.
All you can do is keep the brushes clean.

I'd check the brushes, mine kept getting full of crap and seizing in. Can be a fiddle, but if u get the box off n clean them out, should be fine.

Its a standard one , the old Lucas A127 ? Parts are widely and cheaply available and there are many you tube vids telling you how to repair them . Its straightforward stuff and well worth it . The 300 spec is only another manufacturers version of the same device , the pulleys are where the problems start but not insurmountable by any means .

Also you will find the same A127 alternator in many , many vehicles in the breakers . The Marelli 300 one too but more variety in the connectors .

The only thing I can suggest is to blow the alt clean with an airline (from a compressor if you happen to carry one or an improvised airline from a spare tyre) right after it gets dirty or wet .

i also put the mondeo one one, 95a for £20. used spacers already on my old alt. seems more robust, not had any issues... yet

Yeah , that Marelli version is on all sorts of motors - find one with aircon and bells and whistles for the highest output , if the amperage thing floats your (waterproof) boat
