Hi all - im just putting a disco 200tdi into my 90 and one of the many unsolved problems is the alternator wiring! My old engine had just 2 wires - the heavy wire and a small wire for the warning light, the disco alternator has a heavy wire but 2 small wires - can anyone tell me what the 2 wires are? thanks, steve

some of theses alt had the rev counter feed taken from them. ah dunt know if yours is one but it do sound like it.

That's a cert.

Make sure you know which is the alternator field wire - it's the one that "pairs up" with the big thick one.

The others are for the rev-counter and can be ignored. As the extra wires will be left behind in the donor car, this is a non-problem now.

The alternator does not need those extra wires.

B+ = Battery wire (big heavy one)
D = Diode (Charge warning lamp)
W = Windings Field (RPM)

B+ & D are the ones you'll use.
