Been running my 2000 TD5 on and off regular diesel, Biodiesel, aircraft fuel, and straight veg oil with a bit of diesel. Yes, your probably going to tell me I'm nuts. But I have done a good 6000 miles on the alternative fuels with no problems.

Question is; has anyone used black diesel and will it work in my TD5? Its basically a 50/50 mix of used engine oil, mixed with regular diesel, and filtered down to 5 microns.

Any responses?

no idea but i would be intrested to find out if you do try, wvo is hard to get these days!

As long as you pay road tax on the old engine oil then it'll work.

even filtering to 5 mic i would not use old engine oil with all those tiny metal bits in it, the injection system may not like it.

some people are distilling old oil so there are not bits in it but its not easy to do.

I would also not use avation fuel or say i had on an open forum as its not duty paid for road use.

I dont know about these days but years ago oild diesel engine oil was reckoned to have sulphuric acid content,now with low sulphur fuels I dont know if that counts. Even so, I would think that old engine oil has some nasty stuff in it.
I would be interested to hear about this issue too....I have LOADS of the old stuff around in a mountain of cans,drums etc.....maybe best saved for a drip fed furnace or smithing hearth ?

Old engine oil will crap up the injector tips with a build up of carbon, making the engine run crappy and start smoking.
I have tried it in all sorts of engines in different amounts with the same fail results.
I have not used any in cars driven on the roads because it's not allowed, but off road and in tractors and stationary engines.
Burning waste engine oils produces lots of carbon which wears piston rings and bores out slowly killing our engine.

Ok, I guess that's a definite NO. How big can the metal particles be? Fuel is so expensive and at 22 mpg combined, its not doing my pocket any good

You should be getting more than 22 mpg combined.
