Hi All,

I am hoping to rebuild my 90 onto a galv chassis in the summer, and whilst having it stripped down i hope to give everything a going over to prolong its life.
Things like, Axles, Castor Arms, Trailing arms and new Galv Chassis.

Question is whats the best approach??

Clean any rust etc off to a clean surface using, Grinder and Flap Wheel??
Use a primer? Red Oxide?
and a top coat? Tetrosyl?

Basically what is a good all round primer and a good all round top coat that i can use on ANY parts that need a new lease of life.
And what is the best approach??

Cheers Sam

Sorry, should have said. I used their primer - it's rust stabilising plus it forms an impermeable barrier as it cures. I'm so pleased with it that I've just used good old Frosts chassis black over the top - it gives a nice gloss finish and is dead easy to touch up.

I can't remember who I bought it from - I just Googled it I think. I bought a 2.5 litre tin and they were quite happy to ship it.

Sam,

Good luck with the project, I am going to do the same next year on my 86 90. I have used POR 15 in the past and it works outstanding for treating rust. You can then prime over or go straight to a top coat (which they sell as a chassis coat). I have also been testing tara shulz as a topcoat as it has some flex properties for the thin body pannels. I dont know if POR15 is avaliable here in the UK but I have had success with it on my old jeeps. Again good luck and would love to see some pictures.
