Hi All

Not being a metal worker, can anyone advise on a suitable milling bit/gadget that would allow me to drill a hole and mill flat the immediate area around the hole so a bolt head can sit flat on the plate and not on the bars?

If it fits in a cordless drill even better.

Cheers.

Use counter sunk bolts?
Allen keys to do up they are black or silver.
6mm bolt hole & 8or10 drill just to sink the head

A spotface cutter is the correct tool for the job, however a counterbore will also do the same job with a bit of care. Basically counterbores come with a small pilot which keeps the cutter central
