I have done a quick search but cannot find this info - Could anyone advise how fast their red alarm light flashes after setting via the remote? (On a facelift TD4)

The handbook states that after 10 secs of rapid flashing the light settles down to a slower rate.
I am sure that mine used to flash once every two seconds or so, but today it is at least twice a second

Probably not related, but I have had the roof off today (3 Door) – All went back on fine and the contacts must be made as I don’t get the horn sounding after locking.

Yes - a slow steady flash - about every 2 secs would be right, ten secs or so after locking.

Something not quite right sure enough - I've a 5 door but someone will be along soon to help.

When it's quick flashing it's waiting for the air to stop moving so it can take a measurement, then compare this as a reference for movement in the car. It should then slow flash. If you get in and lock it with the fob, wait 30 seconds and then move about, the alarm will go oft if it's using the volume sensor. Also the hazard lights only flash if it's fully alarmed, either with fob or key. If you leave a door open you should get a horn bleep and hazards won't flash. Shut the door and it will finish locking and flash hazards.

Continual rapid flashing aslo indicates low battery in fob.

Well reading the above it seems to be working as it should! - I left the window down and armed with the remote. (Although it didn't beep at me) Once it stopped rapid flash mode, I stuck my head in the car and the alarm went off. Armed it with the key and repeated the process and it didn't go off.

The slow flash is at one second intervals not half second, so I think I may be flapping about nowt. I think I will leave it and see what, if anything, happens.
It is booked to go in to RCV at Paddock Wood for the belts and all oils/filters service on Monday so I might ask them to do a quick fault code check to see if anything comes up.

That sounds normal to me - one second is not that rapid an interval and should be OK - I'll time mine more accurately and report back soon.

Be careful with asking a dealer to do fault code check - some of them will charge up to £80 just to connect their lap-top gizmo.

You can buy your own code reader on eBay cheaply, and it'll pay for itself the first time you use it.

I have a Scangauge2 permanently connected to the OBD and mounted on the dash - but that's perhaps a bit over the top for most folks.

Edit: Just checked - mine is flashing steady at just under one second intervals.

Many thanks for putting my mind at rest SV.

As a relativley new owner of a FL1 I tend to read everything on here and try to relate any problems others are experiencing back to mine. I shall have to stop being so paranoid and enjoy the moment as most good at the mo.

As a specialist, RCV seem really good so far...They were happy to quote for the service less the pollen, turbo and fuel filters which were replaced recently and when they checked for codes at my last visit there was nothing added to the final bill. I have also topped up the screen wash bottle as I have been caught out with that one before at Guy Salmon!!!
£10 up front fee for a courtesy car as well, which admittedly is only a Corsa but I would think that main dealers include the cost of that in with their overpriced labour charges?

Main dealers normally charge extra for courtesy cars. A bit less if it's non LR. Be careful when asking for code checks. Main dealers and those with the propper kit will be able to read the engine computer, auto if it's an auto, abs etc. Each computer can have it's own code list. Many have paid for checks only to find their abs lamp is on with no code. It's in the abs computer where most can't get to. Cheak code readers won't get past the engine computer. A main dealer will also check you have the latest software and any software updates too.
