Since removing and refitting the steering wheel the airbag light has stayed on. Does this have to be reset or is there a fault I can look for?

The air bag system usually monitors faults constantly and if the fault clears the system will automatically clear the warning light

You sure about that? Low battery faults for one often do not clear without diagnostics.

Pretty sure i've read it somewhere.

Also I had an airbag fault that came up with a loose connection to the sensor but would clear itself if the fault went.

If the airbag light comes on then the whole SRS system is deactivated and so won't work in an accident situation hence why I think it tends to clear it's own faults if possible as to keep to system functioning

An SRS light on for a side airbag fault does not de-activate the whole system. Certainly loose connection faults will re-set. Low volts faults may not.

my problem was with the battery disconnect module and the only way it cleared was to leave all comms connected on the clearing faults screen and eventually the light started to go off and back on and then eventually it stayed off
