Evening All,

I'm in need of some more help, I've just replaced all the air springs with Dunlop ones - despite the old system working well, the car still had original springs.

When the car is parked I always reduce the ride height to its lowest point. When I start it up the next day the access ride height light flashes for about 10-15 seconds but the car doesn't actually raise or lower (or I just cannot tell). It did not do that on the old springs as I thought it always sits on its bump stops anyway.

The second problem concerns the time it takes to get to the normal ride height. On the old springs, once I set off and got close to the end of the road the car would have raised to the normal ride height from the access height. On the new springs it seems to take another minute or so before it gets to this height.

I ran the EAS Tool on my laptop to see if any error codes show up but none did. Also, I should add that the compressor was replaced 12 months ago.

Thanks in advance.

Lack of air pressure. Your compressor is tired there is no need to drop the suspension just leave it where it is. Doing that is just putting more work it's way without reason. Check it for output and the diaphragm valve for leaking as in "How to" at top of page.

+1 leave the car at standard...dropping it will only make the system have to work harder to raise the vehicle again in the morning.

Plus if the tank is pressured up the car should lift from access in seconds not minutes. Think the OP has a few issues to sort out. :)

Very true, with air in the tank it should leap up.....time for soapy water!;)

As above.
You might have over-worked the new compressor by having it work with the old bags for a year. Put simply, and quoting what is almost becoming WAMMERS mantra, there's little point in trying anything else until you've got enough air.

It's fundamental to operation. Put another way, it does not matter how sumptuous or well appointed the brothel you just built is. Without prostitutes it cannot function. :D:D

Morning All,

Thanks for all the responses.

I’ll leave the car in standard height from now on, I was just thinking about going easy on my old bags at the time. I will have a read of the ‘How To’ section.

It didn’t take too long to get to normal height on the old bags, just a few seconds. I did have an issue with air leaking from the connection at the top of the new bag when we replaced it a few days ago but this was sorted straight away. It seems strange that the compressor would weaken the moment the new bags are connected.

The P38 has been great but sometimes it makes me wonder why I sold my L322.

P38s are a lot cheaper and easier to fix. That is as good a reason as any.:):)

So today I left the car at the standard ride height and after coming back to the car a few hours later it has lowered itself. Any ideas?

If it was left on the flat.....you no doubt have a leak somewhere....time to get the soapy water out.

As you know, the P38 will self level every few hours to its lowest corner. if it was parked on a kerb, slope et al the vehicle will relevel to match the lowest corner....

If the car is sitting squarely albeit on the bumps now, mor ethan likely a leak causing it to lower itself.

Remove the Delay timer relay from under the passanger seat (RHD) and see if one corner lowers over night....

Removing the delay timer will essentially stop the vehicle from releveling should a corner drop...if in the morning one corner is lower than the rest....you have a leak on that corner.....if it stays at the same height, that could mean that in normal operation the system has detected a difference in heights at the corners and will lower isteslf to level out...this can be caused by iffy height sensor....

Would pulling that relay and leaving it out cause any probs?
My drive is very uneven (slopes down forward and to the right)and most mornings its flat down! Dont think its a leak cos my last rangie did it too

I'm a new member and relatively inexperienced but i would agree with all the above. I had loads of issues with mine taking ages to rise in the morning. Then it would jump to wade height while on a journey, valves stick open, valves stick closed. I bought a new compressor seal kit (£15 from Bearmach) fitted it in about half hour and everything is rosy (at the moment).
