Had a look around the site and there is plenty of chatter on the regular failure of the mounting bolts for the air filter housing on a 300TDI defender all four of mine are fooked. Is there an alternative, upgrade, different way of doing it what ever you want to call it really, got a snorkel fitted if that makes any difference one with the mushroom top ideas welcome:D:D:D

Try looking for exhaust bobbins to suit a Saab/Renault. They are the same size but much stronger and a bit cheaper too.

I think bobbins from an original mini also fit. ;)

All of mine were goosed when I got it, either split or the thread rusted.

The metal bracket onto the engine block had welded captive nuts which made it easy to change them as they just unscrew.

Having recently owned a classic Mini the bobbins are substantially bigger and would not fit without removing the captive nuts and drilling out the holes. They would then also be more difficult to fit. No idea about Saab's as I have a pathological hatred of Saab's and Volvo's,

My recommendation would be to replace them with new standard bobbins and see how you go.

just done all mine a couple of week ago, the nots to the frame on mine were not captive, and the back one was a pig to get my fingers into, still, its solved a rattle :)
