hello everyone,

after receiving great help last time I'm back again this time with a new problem and was wondering if any one had an answer...
after having an air problem in the car, I replaced all of the air pipes and found that someone probably should of replaced them along time before I bought the car but never mind. My concern now is I seem to of made things worse this afternoon I couldn't get above 60 and the car was slowing down, thinking its still and air problem I removed the lid to the air box and the problem went away, so I was wondering has any one come across this before and what they did to fix it?

Thanks in advance
Kai

Just to add its a 2.5 1998

IF what you have done has actually cured the fault then something is blocking the air supply into the box. Either the intake is blocked or your filter is FUBARed.
Try removing the filter and running it with the lid back on. IF the fault re-appears then take the dead seagull or similar out of the intake.

Thank you for the reply, I did what you suggested removed the filter and closed the lid and the problem stayed so I guess the problem is in the box..... On this guess I removed it and found no dead birds :D. It's completely clear other than what looks like fan blades? Any other suggestions? Should I drill a new hole in the air box? Or is that just asking for trouble?

Thanks again
Kai

Check the air inlet pipe from the air box all the way to it's opening to the air.

Okay there doesn't seem to be a pipe it just goes into the cavity of the wing? Am I missing a pipe then?
