Hello I would like your help .
I'm looking for some chunky looking tyres that are good on the road can any help . I think the biggest I can fit are 255 70 r16 on my p38 without it dropping on the arches . And any one know who sells underbody protection got diff guards on there way but can't find anything else

If you're looking for real chunky BF Goodrich. I'm impressed with the Generals I've got on my Rangie but they don't shout 'off-road'.

I've had General Grabber AT's and BF Goodrich T/A's. I think the General Grabber ATs were much better despite not looking quite so good. They're quieter and seemed to perform better off road too. + they're cheaper.

Note that General Grabber AT's are not the same as AT2's. The AT's are newer and outperform AT2's. I dunno why most people still call them AT2's.

Thanks I've seen the at2 and reviews are good and I've just seen the at's the side Walls look a bit more chunky . Are mud tyres really that bad on road or is it a safety thing. I'm spending a lot on my p38 at moment with gen3 new shocks and stuff and want to sit it on some chunky sidewall tyres

I experienced Dunlop AT2 and AT3 since 3 years and 40.000 miles. AT aren't good on road nor offroad. Dangerous on weg. Recently mounted BF Mud Km2 those are very good on road even wet with little noise compared to other muddies i tried and are awesome offroad. I won't mount any AT tires anymore. Maximum size with slight rubbing is 265/75R16. It gives 2 inches clearance under the diffs and that is very important with the P38 and it's low clearance at the diff compared to stock defenders.

Hello and I would just like to say how nice your p38 is . I saw this photo on the net and it was what started me off building mine up . Do you have the air springs set up at nom and just higher when in off road mode ? You said that you have 75r16 and they only rub a little what happens when you lower it and do you have higher bump stops where did you get them from and I've been told your the man to speak to about underbody protection . It would be great if you could help thanks

Thanks! I had to recalibrate every setting 1 inch higher or you can't use highway mode. I experienced running on the bumpstops twice with those but it's fine as long as you have some inflation valves. I should look for longer bumpstops it's true.
