Hi guys,

Yer must be gettin' sick of me by now ! I'm having a real bugger of a time finding the info I need, lots of unlcear info on searches and google. If I just want to replace the front coils with new standard ones (they are sagging a bit) what are my options for aftermarket ones? OEM are £80 odd EACH which seems a bit much!! All I can find is lifted/HD springs from trusted places like bearmach, or aftermarket ones where the manufacturer isn't listed so I suspect is ****part. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I know that the D2 springs are handed too so thats something to look out for.

Try using lrdirect

Put a part number in and they give you options for genuine or aftermarket, like this:

Spring-Coil - Land Rover Part REB101341

I just found them too, cheers mate!! Looks like BM do some, that's a relief.

Hey I don't suppose you know what kind of paint would be suitable for spraying them? I quite like the blue HD bearmach ones .

No idea mate, don't see the point personally, they'll be covered in mud soon enough

Also the manufacturers don't seem to be able to find paint that lasts

Very true, they'll be filthy the first weekend after they've been fitted !!

I'm more concerned with improving the ride - hopefully the larger tyres, smaller alloys, new coils and shocks will smooth things out a bit. I've been spoiled by the Freelander, they really do ride beautifully despite everything.

Are you coming from 18 inch wheels then? Just switching to 16s makes a nice difference to the ride. Mine was well crashy on 18s.

Yes I've got 18* hurricanes on there, but I have a set of 16 inch alloys that I got from fleabay. Should look really nice with the tyres.

the ride did improve on mine when I changed from 18" to 16".
most noticeable was that it steered better. on the 18s it seemed to grab
any ruts on the road. even with plenty of tread on the tyres.
a while ago I drove a mates freelander and was surprised how car like it felt. made my td5 feel quite agricultural. then again its probably on its original springs and shocks.
