as above really ladies and gents, looking to lift my 90 this weekend, but im unsure what springs to go for. ive seen loads of kits for 2" heavy duty and only a small few for lightly loaded vehicles. basically im asking how hard its going to ride if i use heavy duty springs, when its unladen most of the time?

theres no winch as yet but thats not to say there wont be a winch on it in a months time, and it does very little towing. i want it to be nice and soft with decent articulation off road, and pretty comfy on the road. at the moment its fitted with standard height disco springs and shocks, and by jesus its bloody hard. i no about it when i hit a pothole lets put it that way! needless to say its pretty rigid on greenlanes too, so the last thing i want is too fit a heavy duty setup, and find its equally as hard. i feel like a boy racer dodging bumps in the road!

from previous discos ive had with 2" kits on them, they've always been good off road, albeit a touch on the scary side of things when it comes to tarmac, but i can live with a bit of a wallow now and then. :)

well no i havent, because im asking how much stiffer they are to normal ones? is a winch going to make that much of a difference to spring ratings etc? is a normal 90 with a few tools in the back, a few spot lamps and a winch going to be too stiff on H/D's or too spongy on normals?

like i said i need it to be soft and to follow the terrain, but i dont want to be wasting money if they have to be changed the minute a few extra bits get bolted on.

My 90 is running with standard Height HD springs front and back. I run empty most of the time. Fitting them lifted the front by about an inch but then it was sagging under the weight of the winch. As for the rears there dont really sit much higher than the standard. Today all i had was a small toolbox in the back and it was to stiff or anything going over pot holes.

Personally I'm not a fan of lifting 90's but if you are going for a winch then defo go for HD springs, There are a few of us in the club with the same set up and no complaints

I fitted HD Bearmach blue on my Def90 with a 2" lift. Lovely and firm on the road and great carrying weight or towing. The only time you'll suffer is if you do serious off roading as you won't get the articulation that standard will give you. It's a case of weighing up the percentages ... I love the HD's put it doesn't mean that others will.
