Im after some advice if anyone can, I seem to be having a bit of a problem with the temp gauge. Initially the temp gauge would get up to normal confused[pointer at 90degrees] reasonably quick, but heater wouldnt get warm for about 8 or 9 miles on a run.

Now temp gauge not working in that the pointer wont move but red warning light is lit.

Manual states if pointer in the red and light on then consult dealer but doesnt list any other variable.

Am I right in changing the thermastat?

Getting a bit pi$$ed with the TD5 only done 3 miles in 10 days due to a lengthening list of problems and repairs......bloody landrovers

not the stat m8... IMO the coolant temp. sensor is to be replaced... see this: (RAVE)

"The ECT sensor can fail the following ways or supply incorrect signal:
l Sensor open circuit.
l Short circuit to vehicle supply.
l Short circuit to earth.
l Incorrect mechanical fitting.
l Signal fixed above 40 C (104 F) not detected.
l Signal fixed below 40 C (104 F) not detected.
In the event of an ECT sensor signal failure any of the following symptoms may be observed:
l Difficult cold start.
l Difficult hot start.
l Driveability concerns.
l Instrument pack temperature warning illuminated.
l Temperature gauge reads excessively hot.
l Temperature gauge reads excessively cold.
In the event of component failure the ECM calculates coolant temperature from the fuel temperature sensor signal. If
this occurs, the limit engine operation if coolant temperature is too high becomes inoperative.
The MIL will not illuminate in an ECT sensor failure."

So I cursed the fecker:censored: alot, before ordering the sensor, turned on the truck to check other concerns and low and bloody behold the feckers working fine

Maybe if I shout and swear at the other things that are wrong and maybe consider whipping it with a branch - Faulty Towers stylee - they may all right themselves

Gonna name the truck "Christine"......you know, the Stephen King "Christine"........wasted:doh:
