Hello

Looking for some help and advice, I am considering buying a Range rover, hopefully if funds allow a 3L TDV6.About an 02 or 03 plate.

Are there any known problems that i should be looking for, Is the auto gearbox one of those sealed for life jobs.

Thanks for any replys

If you do a search you will find lots of advice here. also, Matt stevenson has a comprehensive checklist on his website.

2 years ago I bought a 2002 HSE 3L TD6 (it is a BMW straight 6, not a V6, that is a disco engine) and it has been brilliant. However when you look at one, test everything you can and pick up faults then, not after you have bought and driven away. You will still need £1,000-£2,000 ready to be used for parts, services, tyres etc so it's not cheap. You should be able to pick up a good 'un (go for Vogue trim) for £9,500 - £12,500/ Look for LR FSH if poss. Mine had no service history and 5 previous owners but is still a great car with very few faults.

BTW, the gearbox is not sealed for life and should have a full flush through and oil change anywhere from 70,000 to 100,000 miles.

Good luck!
