Its time for brakes that stop not squeal and suspension that damps rather than bounces.

I have a 1972 classic and the front brake calipers have seized and warn the discs, the rears are getting low.

I plan to replace the front calipers and dics/pads all round. I'm assuming Britpart bits.

A couple of questions though -

1 - Can I and is there any point in increasing the disc size while I do this work.

2 - Due to the amount of dismantling involved, what else should I replace whilst things are apart.

3 - What suspension setup would you suggest? Mainly road or unmade roads, towing. Will need to be snow capable and not embarrass me at the odd pay an play. I have air bags inside the springs on the rear for towing and anti roll bars are still connected.

Sensible advice much appreciated.

And of course if you happen to have some of this in your garage ...

Check all the brake lines, including flexible hose. If any looks iffy, just replace it. It will save you coming back and farting around again. Once the calipers are done and you need access again you can just lift them out the way.

Are you going to recondition the calipers?

Clean all the crap out, old moisture ridden grease etc.

Luckily you don't have ABS. :)

it dont av anti roll bars..and no you cant increase disc size..

re shockers..standard are fine..but gas type are better..

britpart discs are ok..prehaps go for drilled grooved with decent pads..as stated replace the flexi pipes..use goodridge ptfe stainless covered tpye..quite cheap..

calipers are cheap too new..

do the wheel bearings as well at same time.again cheap.

i would say no to any ****part bits, particuarly on brakes, do a search for britpart or ****part on here and you will see. and no antiroll bars on a 72 (I have a 72 aswell) so you have had them added or you have a 20+year later chassis.

Yep, I avoid Britpart on things like brakes. Better makes were only pennies more expensive.

I needed one new caliper and it was 34 quid

britpart discs are ok for the money....i have tried some..as good as ebc....in fact would say better, the groooves dont fill up with pad material like the ebc's do..fitted on my 4 door..done plenty plenty miles on them...and have given them abuse..
