I have just read that adding a small quantity acetone in diesel helps mpg and emissions. Has any one with a TD6 used this and if yes how much and where from.

it is supposed to make a more complete burn of the fuel but i thought it was only used on petrol engines??

I am on another forum for a different type of motor (japanese sorry) and one of the members over there I believe has tried it as a thinner for veg ... seems to work ok but flipping expensive...

you can use a non kerosene based white spirit for thinning veg oil, use it at a 3% dilution 97 litres veg oil(used) 3 litres white spirit

be very careful....
I have been using filtered and cleaned vegatable oilas a fuel for about 18 months.
The only legal solvant that is allowed to be put into your fuel tank is petrol.
If your fueltank was ever dipped by the plod, it would take allot of explaining to get away with white spirit in your tank.

It is to do with what fuel is classed as a motor vehicle fuel, and duty to be paid.
It is illegal to use parafin or white spirit.
dont get me wrong, im no doo-gooder!! just wanted to inform you, its up to you to make your own choices.

Petrol can be added to either diesel or vegatable oil which thins the viscosity, but this lowers the cetane rating of the mixture, which means a cetane enhancer should be added..
