I only asked what fluid to top up the ace with as it's a bit low (it's pink) , then we got onto the pas which is also "pink" but that is leaking :( sorry

Do I need to flush out the pink in both systems and replaced with green, or can I just top up the pink with green :eek:
 
I'll pass on that, never had to do it, but I don't think it would be a bad idea to get as much of he old stuff out first.

Did you use it in both systems and how much did you put in? They both need the same oil, if you just topped up a bit I wouldn't worry too much
I personally don't like mixing oils but I know plenty of people who do and did without any problems, wrong oil is often better than no oil.
 
As you wish but my advice is to do it completely at least for the ACE cos that pump is very sensitive to oil quality, i've seen few cases of failed ACE pumps and all of them were running on ATF, ATF for ACE is recomended only in the NAS RAVE and only if there's not the risk of temps below -20*C, the European RAVE does not mention it at all for PAS/ACE

I haven't topped up or touched the ACE fluid yet, but will get some proper green stuff ASAP , if I have read
sierraferys post correctly , I will get my mate to drain both out and replace when he can
 
What is the cheapest stuff I can stick in the ACE system, only worried about the front ram and the pump?

Mine is leaking quite fast but cannot get it repaired easily as I need somewhere under cover and a few days
 
If it's leaking bad put cheap ATF in it untill you fix it(not on a long run though) and unplug the ACE ECU, this will send it into locked bars default which means that the fluid is circulating between the valve block and the pump and the rams should be isolated albeit if the seals within the block are not 100% perfect(quite likely) some fluid escapes into the rams anyway

Would locked bars make much difference as I am pretty sure it is the front seals on the block.

I am going to leave it working as long as possible until repair, then try to hire a warm tall garage to fix it over Christmas

Topped it up today, was down to minimum, 3 weeks from maximum, bought another spare CCF so I have two in the car.
