I've been having trouble with the abs on my Disco 1 for a while now, some times the light comes up, some times it doesn't, some times the abs will kick in randomly when I apply the brake and at other times it won't.
Took the wee beastie to my local garage today to get a couple of other issues sorted out and whilst it was there they did a diagnostic on it which came back with an open circuit fault on the abs ecu. It isn't something they want to do, anything mechanical they are spot on but computer electric stuff they prefer for someone else to do which is fine by me.
So does this usually point to the ecu being dead or is there a possibility of some dry soldered joints. Also can I just remove the ecu bit and still use the Disco (without abs obviously) whilst I repair/source a replacement?
