Every time I start car the brake pump make its usual wirring sound for some time before the ABS light goes out, then every time I touch the brakes the pump kicks in for a short while. Does this mean the accumulator needs replacing ?
Bloody irritating that wiring sound every few second if driving in traffic.
Or is the pump knackered?

Pump should not cut in after every brake press. Before I replaced my accumulator I had the pump running after every other press of the pedal which as you say is annoying!!

I replaced it and I now get the pump run after about every 7th or 8th press of the pedal.

Dont leave changing the accumulator though, it will knacker the pump eventually and that IS expensive.

does anybody know if this will stop the ratchett noise i keep geting? i only get pump after 4 or 5 presses but ratchet is constant
