just changing the oil in the swivels and noticed that the drain in the gearbox is missing!!!!!! anybody know what size the bolt is and where i can get the gearbox oil from as i guess its bone dry!!!! must have been like this for ages as theres no oil on my drive since i had it.
Also where is the filler positioned?

Are you sure it's the drain plug, and not the wading plug in the bellhousing?
If you have been driving round without gearbox oil I think you would have known some time ago!

gotta agree with Davec if you didn't have any oil in the g'box you wouldn't have got far at all.

phew panic averted then. Do i need to plug the hole? and where is the drain cos i've looked at the manual and it says on the bottom but i can't see it? Its a 300tdi manual cheers chaps

I don't bother about the wading plug...but then, I don't go wading
