Where is the 'normal' position for my temp. guage ?

Very slight, hardly noticable, (but f. high pitched) occasional, whine from transmission. Fluid change ?

Changing over from petrol to LPG. When is the optimum time to push the button ?
Once up to full operating temperature ? Or simply before pulling away ?

Any recommendations for specialists in the Surrey/Berks/Hants border area ?

Is it a Discovery or a Boeing 737? What model mate?!!!!!

Whine would more likely be bearing/gear wear. Oil change never hurts though.

Droogy...No1.The needle of the temp gauge should sit in the 8 o'clock position on a standard non-molested V8.
I think RobCSH has correctly helped you with No2.

Its a 1995 V8i ES
4.6 l from V8 Developments, lightened and dynamically balanced 9.35:1 Compression ratio,
Gas flowed stage 3 heads with Kent 218 cams and hydraulic tappets, Aluminium alloy trumpets, ported inlet manifold and performance filter.....
Lucas 14 CUX closed loop fuel and OMEX 150 ignition management system....
Janspeed four branch (each side) tubular manifolds and SS exhaust system......
275 BHP @ 4700 RPM, 300ib/ft @3200 RPM....
AG SGI multipoint injection LPG system

Scorpion Urethane bushes all round. Koni/ Scorpion all round inc. ARB's

Overfinch High-Rate Power Steering Box.....

Upgraded braking system plus Sat-Nav, Bluetooth, etc, etc,

8 oclock she is ! I assumed that halfway was the correct point and that I had potential WP/Thermostat probs.

Thats not a Discovery it's a 4.6 ltr TVR. Now tell us the true spec. ;)

Sorry your right just been out to look, it's just across the centre of the temp symbol in the gauge so between 8 and 9.

It's the engine spec that one would expect to find on a fast road car and not a dual vehicle like Land Rover that's all. It's quick away from the lights then.

Oh, its off like a scalded cat when the need arises, oh yeah....:)
The reason I asked was that its interesting that you should make the specific TVR link, as the 'builder' of this car is quite well known in the TVR world.
Also its been commented on more than a few occasions that 'she sounds like a Cerbera', especially at full chat....;)
 
The spec albeit with a different cam is very much what an TVR owner would request also it would have a blue print crankshaft which i'm sure your engine has, so add that that to your list. Once apon a time I was very interested in the TVR although I haven't owned one. I use to work in Borehamwood Herts. near a TVR dealer and see and hear them everyday and have a nose around them in the lunch break hence my interest in V8s in Land Rovers.

I used to own a RR 3.5 V8 EFi that had an LPG conversion. It used to start on petrol and then it would automatically change to LPG once I had reached 3rd gear. You could hear a click as it did so. I assume similar systems are still available. I'm sorry I can't tell you what system it was.

As far as specialists go in your area, can't help there either as I live about as far away from you as I could, short of going abroad!
 
well off the thread, but you guys ain't heard nuttin yet until you open up an old (nearly 50 years old) Daimler 2.5L V8 in a Dart with a stainless big bore exhaust then??? my other love in life when not touching up the Waxoyl on me Disco
