Hi
Shortly I will be moving back to the wilds of Cumbria after forty odd years of living in the south. I will be living at the end of a two mile, essentially, unmade road ( emphasis on unmade!). I am guessing that a Land Rover defender is going to be the best bet for the road and harsh Cumbrian winters.
Any advice that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Yeah a Defender would work well, or a Land Cruiser, a proper one with the straight six turbo diesel engine would be my choice.
Depends on how much you want to spend and if you like your vehicles to have a working heater?

Rather have a Defender with no heater than a slitty infact Ide rather have a Defender with no fricken glass than a slitty but then I have got a screw loose or two. There's loads of more sensible choices than a Defender but be warned they're not made by Land Rover :multiply:

err this thread was a bit of a con to get me in here "virgin" ...maybe... but your a dude

Thanks guys for the input so far.
I forgot to mention that I am useless at car mechanics. I assume that the defender being fairly basic does not cost an arm and a leg to service?

If you want total reliablility and cannot DIY, you do not want an LR vehicle. A Shogun/Pajero would serve you better.

Sorry did this the wrong way round we are ment to be nice first arnt we ;)

Hello and welcome

LOL. even changing a light bulb on mine involves a sheared bolt and having to drill it out.........new rear wiper blade? Remove the wheel.........
