Hi guys. Ive just got meself a 1996 discovery. Never had one before although i have welded a few. It seems to drive well. No rattles or bangs. Pulls well. BUT. Theres a bit of a crunch when selecting 3rd gear. If i let the revs go down before putting into 3rd its ok. But when driving normal and selecting 3rd theres a bit a crunching going on.
Any ideas?
Anything to worry about??

so does mine same if i change slow its fine but if rushed slight crunch only going up though , and it had a new box 25,000 mils ago , common fault ive been told

believe me i drive mine like i stole it , its not got worse in the last couple of mths

Got a recon g/box on mine some 40k miles ago and it will crunch from 3rd - 4th if rushed, as said previously don't rush the gear change and all will be fine. When was the oil last changed?, if it's been a while it might be worth doing.
