Hi can any one help when I turn the key to start my discovery there is a hesitation befor the engine turns over and some times it dosen't tun over but I turn the key on and off a few times it will eventuly turn over and start.
most of the time I turn the key and there is about a 2 second dely and it turns over and starts. Have checked the bettery and conections at starter motor and all seems ok only had this dicovery about 6 week and looking at service history it had a new bettery 2 weeks befor I bought it any advice welcom please.

My starter does this ocassionally too, if its had a new battery i would say its a faulty starter, if you change it fit a bosch one the cheaper ones like the one i fitted arent brilliant, im gonna get a bosch one for mine when funds allow lol, is it an auto as sometimes if its not in drive properly that can also cause these symptoms.

Hi took the starter off today and had it tested by local auto electrishon and was told its ok so put it back on and after starting it 2 or 3 times it doing it again turn the key and it takes about 2 seconds and it turns over and starts any thourghts any one

An intermittant problem wont always show up when tested, see if you can borrow a good starter and see if that sorts it, or try jumping it off a running motor to test the battery lol

Mine occasionally does this. I, after lots of head scratching, I traced it to the multifunction unit. This seems to be integrated into the car's systems and possibly is something to do with the alarm system. I do have, however, a long peice of metal and hammer; just in case.
