Can anyone tell me which gearbox my 1986 C plate 90 2.5 petrol has please or how I can identify it. Also if that box would have a breather and where to find it as I cant seem to find one

When I park it up after a run I seem to have a bit of a gearbox or transfer box leak looks like running down. If I Wipe it off the underneath it stops dripping. Take it for a run and it starts again. Seems to be pooling on the 3 areas marked below before ending up on the floor.

your box will be a 50a lt77 and look up on front side of transferbox youll see end of shaft recessed in t/box it has an oring that leaks as well as shaft wearing case runs down ,

Gearbox oil was full to the brim when I checked

Transfer box was down some so I guess its t/box oil

Gunked underneath and pressure washed it. Bunged in some stop leak stuff so will see how it goes.

OK took it for a run and this is what I found when I got back

Just the one leak looks like it may have been from the gearbox filter washer but I cant see how oil could make its way up to the higher part. That black washer looks a bit damp. The only other place I can think of I have labelled that feels oily there.

if that drips you leak thats gearbox oil unless someones filled transfer box with wrong oil,the hole near drip is the outlet for any oil running out of gearbox rear seal or transfer box input seal

Its odd as the transfer box was the oil that was low and it didnt look like gearbox oil but then it was dirty before i cleaned it up. Was serviced at a landy specialist 6 months ago and had oil in both box's changed.

When u park up and dry it off no leaks until you run it again.

Other jobs sound pricey
