I'm trying to sort out an electrical problem with the ignition. When the key is turned on should there be current at all the contacts less the starter? At present one contact does not have current. I do not have current at the +side of the coil, however if I jump this it will start. I have checked all the relays and they seem to be fine. I'm going to clean all the contacts at the starter in hopes that will do it. If anyone has any suggestions on where to look next, I would appreciate it. Thanks

OK so you have a 1988 110 Landy.

Is it a 2 1/4, 2 1/2 or V8 engine?

If you can jump start it, it would possibly mean that all the power is getting to where it should, except to the starter solenoid.

You should fins a bit of White/Red wire attached to the solenoid. This comes from the ignition switch and provides a 12V feed. If you don't have 12V when you turn the switch to the 'start' position, change the bit of wire.

Thanks for the reply. I have a 3.9 V8 from a 95 Disco. I pulled apart the dash today and found a couple of melted wires from the instrument switch and am replacing them now. (photos attached) I won't know if it actually fixed anything until I put it all back together. The problem, no dash lights or gauges when you turned it on, but the starter fired fine. No current at + side of coil. Current OK at all terminals at ignition switch. Should the + terminal on the coil have current when the ignition switch is on? If so, is it supplied from the ignition, solenoid or the relay? Thanks again for your help.
