I have seen a set of 7.50 r16 tyres on 5.5j rims, tubeless. I currently have a 1991 defender 90 with drum brakes on the rear, are there any issues with fitting these? I am a bit of a novice so any help greatly appreciated.
ok thank you, i was at a landrover show today and saw 5 good tyres on 6.5j newish steel wheels but didn't have enough cash on me, they were only £200 and I really need new tyres and wheels!
I have seen these which I was dubious about. But now I know to stay clear. If you know of anyonewilling to sell newish original steels and tyres for cheap I would be willing to buy! lol
I can't remember the make now as I have been trying to blank them from my mind! But they were on original steels which were just dirty but had absolutely no rust and 1 of the tyres was brand new, they were 7.50 r16 and yes at Stoneleigh, I went back to get the guys number (think he was a breaker) just to see someone loading them onto their 110 roof rack, did you buy them? lol
not me i left sunday morning........ if you want to keep it looking original go to a breakers they normally go for £10 each for the lwb rims or if you don't mind it looking non original go for a disco steel as they are 7x16 i believe
I like the look of the insa turbo traction track as I currently have the old BFG version (same tread) but I am a bit worried about retreads/remoulds, how much of a difference is there between remoulds etc and normal tyres?
remoulds aren't the same as the ones you used to get that would spit the tread at the drop of the hat, the insa ones are prob the best ones going they check (and x ray) all the carcasses before they use them, while you were at stoneleigh did you go on the 4site tyre stand? on saturday i had a chat with one of the guys there who had been to insa's manufacturing site and he said they were top notch and 4site don't sell to the public so he has no reason to big up any of the tyres (especially as they were the cheapest ones on the stand lol)
i did have a look at the simex extreme trekker 2 on devons stand they are not a bad price considering lol £1k for 4 36x10.5x16
the rangemaster is a good road tyre i have them fitted at the moment but its not very good in mud, not used the SAG, my mud tyres are 750 firestone SAT copies (me spare is a genuine SAT) i have a pair of 750 avon traction mileage as emergency spares
