Looking at some flexi arches now (for a 5 door), and after reading lots of threads, looks like flatdog ones are the ones to get.

However, when searching on fleabay, came across these...

GRP 5 Door 50 mm arches

Now I read in one thread not to get fibre glass ones (but no reason was given why - although I suspect its cos they don't flex maybe??), and these claim to be 'GRP - Glass Fibre reinforced Plastic' whatever that may be

Don't suppose anyone has got a set of these or has any comments, just they are half the price of Flatdog and likes.....so do you pay for what you get??? As the second photo looks like the Flatdog ones???

Or do I just save up more for these...

Either set are fine. You've got to be doing something a tad bad to break them. And if you do break them there will be other more important things to worry about that your plastic arches

Ok, thanks.

What is the best way to fix them on, as the 'cheap' ones don't come with any fixings?

Is it just a case of rivnuts or the likes?

I disagree. Bar your wing mirrors, the arches will be the widest part of your car. GRP arches will crack/ shatter with very little pressure, whereas the flexi ones will bend when you hit them. This is assuming you're going greenlaning or offroad of course... Buy cheap, buy twice...

I originally screwed mine on with the supplied screws. I took them off to do some bodywork and riveted them back on. The rivets make for a much stronger fixing.

As above,don't bother with grp unless its just for show. I self tapped mine on,but if you've got to take them off for any reason its best to rivet as they won't go back as good.

I ordered some GRP for my RRC several years ago. 1st set arrived cracked from Royal Mail, as did set 2 and 3! If they can't survive delivery, what will happen off road?

Flat Dog arches are very good although Flat Dog aren't a particulary helpful company - they shouldn't really still be in business if success was based on polite and helpful communication. Others will no doubt disagree.

Stainless self tappers.

It ain't for show, so will save up for the flatdog ones
