Hi guys,

Got a replacement clock for the hippo cos of missing digits.

The replacement is 4 pin, my old one is 8 pin.. I know which 4 wires will supply the new 4 pin clock, but i dont know whih one connects to what pin!

As you look at the back of the clock, can someone tell me what pin needs what wire starting at the top pin and working downward..

Thanks guys

Hi all,

Ive cracked it anyway.. Incase any of you guys want to swap from an 8 pin to a 4 pin plug, ive listed the order they are in below:-

With the clock turned around (the back facing you and the pins on the right hand side)

1)top pin = Battery live (i connected this to the purple wire from the loom)

2) 2nd pin down = Switched ignition live (This was connected to the white & green wire from the loom)

3) Third pin down = Logic dimmer off side lights ( connected to the reddish orange wire from the loom)

4) Bottom pin = Earth (black wire from loom)

As you may or may not know, i had the multifunctional display as my hippo originally had the radio details coming through on it.. However i had the common missing digits problem.

As i have an aftermarket JVC cd/mp3 player, the display only ever showed the time.. So i bought the basic clock off ebay.. They are all around the £15+ on the web.. and did the above..

If you want a top tip, the same clock is fitted to 2000 onwards Honda civics!! And they seem to go far cheaper! I won mine for £3.46!! The only small niggle is its orange illumination instead of green.. To get round this i just took the old clock apart, took out the green strip from the display, and cut it down to the same size as the basic clock display, and chucked it into the new clock!!

£3.50 fix for the missing digit problem??? Bargain!! :D

Hope this helps anyone in the same boat, but note - if you still have the original LR head unit/cd player it wont work unless you have the multi function display connected to it.
