Can anyone recommend where I can get hold of the 2 plates which mount the bars to the car just above the rear lights.

A scrapyard!

I had awful trouble getting the mounting blocks because landrover don't sell them individually, not in Ireland anyway.

I eventually got them from a scrapyard where the bars were broken, so he was happy to get rid of the mounting blocks and make some money from it.

I am sure that this came up last week and it looks like they are obsolete from Britpart, so a breakers or ebay may now be your only option.
Might be worth a phone call though?
