Intercooler, turbo, up fuel pump or chip it then up rad size to cope with any extra heat

I reckon it'd take it, it's a cast iron lump after all

Can always up the injector output or bore the engine out to 3.0 if you want even more power as theres a company that runs a 300tdi as a 3.0 for their cars

It's a TGV 2.8 that they use abroad instead of the TD5
And yes I like but £5k I don't like :-(

This is what happened to the first 300

Oh yes that was not fun on the side of the motorway with the fire fighters!!
Oil caught light as it come out :-0 luckily I put it out before and real damage

I've had 200, 300 and TD5 and my money would be on the TD5 every time.
My current one's remapped but only to about 150bhp just for that bit of extra oomph with a heavy trailer on. I wouldn't want to go much more without an intercooler upgrade.

Roy used to have a 300tdi fender which was about 160-170bhp but it did about 14mpg:eek:

Was that 14 mpg when your foot is down or is that average?

That was driving it like it was nicked but at best it did about 20mpg on a run. I get about 22 from the TD5 with 2 tonne on the back, and can get 30 if I stick at 65 on the motorway when not towing.

What was your friends setup on his 300 to get that BHP?
And how long was he running it like that with no problems and what condition was the engine in?

I would love a TD5 but spent too much money on mine to consider selling it and buying a standard fit TD5 and start again

I'm another previous owner of 200 & 300TDi engines who now also owns a TD5.

The TD5 sounds downright sexy with a tinkered exhaust when you let it rip.

Like Buck has said, they are electronic but if you've got the right equipment and can do work yourself they aren't rocket science. They are a lot simpler than most people fear them to be.

Jeremy J Fearn Intercooler, tweaked pump and Vortex exhaust. (the vortex exhaust allowed it the pump to be tweaked but kept emissions down)
When he had it done it probably had about 30K on, after him it went to another mate and i'd guess 60-70k by the time he sold it. It ate a gearbox and a couple of diffs but don't think that was down to the power.

It was on BFG muds and still went like **** off a shovel, and sounded very nice indeed. Probably got a pile of pics and vids around somewhere..
