would the steering box make the steering on my disco heavy if it was fooked? i have blead the system, you can turn the steering easy by hand when the front wheels are off the ground all the joints seem to be fine, cheacked the pump that looks ok to.

any sugestions would be greate, just seem to be pulling my hair out at the mo, :(:(:(
 
Does the car wonder at all when you are driving on a straight road? The main problems with the steering box is wear, this causes play and on a disco it tends to wonder about on the road. Stiff or heavy steering is usually the pump/belt or seized track rod end etc.
 
ive got a 300tdi power steering set up, pump, and box, PM me if you need to buy any bits from it just sitting in the drive gathering dust
 
It sounds as though someone has perhaps adjusted the steering box using the grub screw and locknut on the top plate and made it too tight. I would certainly check this before looking alswhere such as swivel joints etc.,
