Was driving down the road the other day and there was a big rumble then a bang. Turns out the rubber uj on my rear prop had shreaded itself to bits. Ive got a 300tdi engine gearbox and rear axle out of a discovery. Gone to fit my new rubber uj and bearing however upon inspection the prop is now sitting back around 2 inches so it doesnt reach the rear axle/ rubber. Everything else the transfer box end seems fine to. Im a bit miffed so any advice would be good. Anyway heres a picture of the axle and prop withouth the rubber donut:

Managed to free it with a bit of gentle persuasion! whats the best way to remove the bearing in the end of the prop. Loks like its been in there since day one. Im guessing heat it up.

If you want to save yourself time and hassle just put a new prop assembly on. You can get one brand new for about £80. If it's an old prop the chances are it won't have much life in it anyway.

Seen as i have a 4 inch lift is it worth getting a wide angled prop?

If you have the cash it's always a better idea to do that but you'll be looking at over £200. If you can then yes, if not a normal one will still be better than the old one. Sounds like the old one hadn't been greased regularly if the sliding joint wasn't free.
