Hi just replaced the glow plugs the other day and noticed that two of the injector leak off pipes are really loose on the injectors.
So 1). Should they be ?
2). If not, could this be the cause of my poor cold morning starts ?
3). What can I use as a replacement if they are nackerd as can't really afford anything till pay day next weekend. will plastic tubing do as long as it will take the heat?

I replaced the glow plugs as on the 1 st cold ( icy) morning last week the cold starting issue returned after a summer of no issues. It was there last winter to, but this year I took out the glow plugs to find only one worked and it was very weak. So I assumed if it only has difficulty starting on cold mornings it must be the glow plugs but with new ones in it's still a bastart to get going in the cold mornings yet starts 1 st time every other time. Could this be the relay? As I dont hear the click when it should.turn off. Any way to.test the relay?

3. Plastic tube will do temporarily but will be likely to harden and crack eventually. You may be able to cut off 10mm or so of the ends of your pipes and refit if they're long enough.
Price of a bottle of wine, 20 cigs, couple of pints- Halfords | Halfords Diesel Spill Off Pipe or maybe cheaper at local motor factors.

Gatch yer a legend, cheers. I didn't realise you could get them.from halfords. There isnt any room left to cut as most of them.have been cut I think previously as they are very short, which is probably part of the issue .
If I fit new pipes should I always bleed the lines at the filter bleed screw or will they self bleed. I presume soon as you take off a leak off pipe you introduce air into the system.

Shouldn't need bleeding, be the same as air getting in overnight and being hard to start in the morning. Hope it sorts it.

Just took the pipes off and found a big split in one and several cracks in another . So have temporarily put clear tubing on in place till I can get new leak off pipes.

The difference in starting in a morning will be amazing when you get them done

i had an end of one of mine split in June when I was on hols. cut the end off and re attached it with a cable tie.

I suppose I should think about replacing all mine also.

Well so far so good, I wouldn't say it starts first crank in the cold but definitely a lot better, thanks.
