Hi there. I have been busy putting a lovely 300tdi engine into my 1984 110 due to a knackered 2.5td lump.

It is in the bay with all wires and pipes (I think) connected correctly.

It turns over (but lumpy) and idles well for about 15 seconds, then just revs faster, then really struggles and eventually dies. I have bled all 4 injectors until nowt but diesel comes out, and I have tried bleeding the fuel filter but I am not too sure if the manual fuel pump lever is working as nothing seems to happen.

There is also the throttle position sensor that is now not connected to anything off the accelerator assembly. Will this make it run like a sack of spanners???

And I have checked on another Disco that the fuel pipes (both from the fuel tank and the return pipe) are connected correctly and they are.

If anyone can offer any help it will be greatly received!!

9 times out of 10 lift pumps buggered doesnt show until you disturb system ,how have you pipe fuel up tank to ( correct)lift pump hole ,lift pump to filter .,filter to front banjo on injection pump ,injectors to rear banjo to tank

My money's on lift pump too, or poss a partial blockage in the suction pipework to it.

Try removing the lift pump discharge pipe and stick it in a container of diesel (placed on a wing).

If the engine runs OK, then work your way back pipe by pipe to the tank, including linking the suction/discharge pipes on the lift pump.

sounds like the engine no longer has it's ecu or the edc solenoid int wired properly???
