got a tidy 300tdi engine for my 200tdi D1, so....... what mods are required? i.e engine mounts. also, will my gearbox fit or do i need the 300 gearbox?

you'll need to change the front engine mounts in a 300tdi. You may be able to change the flywheel housing to a 200tdi housing and keep the LT77 (not 100% on this so google it)

But the most important question is why bother you'll get a 200tdi engine for half the price and it'll fit straight in! So why change to a 300tdi??

cheers for that redhand, i`ll google it, and i did look for a 200tdi for ages with no luck and this 300 turned up 5 mins along the road so i grabbed it. think my existing box may have had to come out soon anyway for the usual "clipping second" problem
