Title should be manual to auto conversion.

I have a 1995 300tdi with a manual gear box. I was wondering what would be needed to convert it to an auto box if that's possible?

A search of this site would be a good start mate ! Its been covered pretty thoroughly, albeit from the reverse perspective, over the last couple of years, with quite a bit recently.

If you also try searching "EDC",electronic diesel control , you will find a fair bit buried in the threads. This is because people have lots of problems with the EDC systems on auto D1s and a common fix is to fit a manual, non fly by wire injector pump and new pedal box.

Obviously this is all talking about swapping one auto system for another, but most of the info will be relevant to what you want to do,just,as I say, from another angle !

That will cover the pedal box and and to some extent the pump. The torque converter, transmission, various interlocks with the shift, the shift itself and the interior....well,someone else will hopefully weigh in. If you scan through a bit you will see some names that keep cropping up with definitive answers - if you dont have any luck, try a PM to one or some of those.

Thats about all I have for you mate....good luck ! Oh,take a few mins and do your signature so people know what you got and where you are, without you having to say each time you post.Save you some time, make it easier for folks to help and you never know, there may be someone local to you that you could pester !

its quite easy ,all parts are bolt on ,but would probably be cheaper buying donor disco ,check oil in auto by draining some out of the box if blackish dont use ,light brown change ,red leave in,ive done quite a few if you need any info, but one thing that is important is fitting torque convertor into box before fitting to engine and measure depth of t/c mount holes below bell housing face and how far drive plate sticks out from rear of mounting plate on engine t/c needs to sit in box 1- 3 mm more than drive plate sticks out from rear of engine
