Hi All,

I have an 89 Defender with a 300TDI (Manual, with mechanical injection as per normal) and the HG has recently failed.

I've decided to swap the block out so I can sit it on me bench and over the coming months give it a complete overhaul. By doing so, I needed to obtain another good running block to go in temporarily.

I have done so, but it's a Discovery Auto EDC unit. Can I simply bolt all the mechanical injection items onto the EDC block (After stripping all the EDC kit off)?

Are there any any extra sensors or pick-ups I need to remove?

Before putting the EDC block into the Defender, I want to give it a bit of care, with new belts and tensioner's (no idea when last done!!!).

I've seen the locking pins available, but also just found a 300TDI EDC specific pin. Is this different and is the EDC specific item required?

Have a dropped a b*****k by getting the EDC, or is it just a case of remembering whenever I service/work on it?

Are they much different? I know the blocks are virtually the same, but I'm starting to wonder if there may be things I've not thought of?
